Modern technologies replaced many interesting Soviet games but in the USSR they were the main entertainment. The visitors of the interactive exhibition will play some old games (tetris, digger etc.), play old vinyl records, and see the whole process of creating a photograph in an old photographic studio. Anyone can try to implement the country’s electrification plan at the special stand.
The site introduces viewers to the hard everyday life of the Soviet soldiers during the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989), and the oriental authenticity of a distant mountainous country, still living according to the laws of the feudal society. The site, made to look like the Soviet military camp, presents samples of military equipment and weapons of those years. The living area resembles a dwelling in an Afghan kishlak. Guests of the festival will try on some elements of a national costume (pakol and patu) and ammunition of Soviet internationalist soldiers.

Visitors of this exhibition will learn the secrets and passions of women of the Art Nouveau period. The exhibition for the first time features 100 objects of the intimate women's world and accessories, including Abramson corsets, Spanish camisoles, Dutch brooches, French shoes and Belgian fans.
The guests of the festival can visit the Children's railway consisting of two stations. In Mitino railway zone, you can use equipment preventing train crashes and other accidents. In Butovo anyone can visit the cabin of a TU4 locomotive and a special train car.
The site illustrates the features of the period of the empress Elizabeth of Russia’s reign. Visitors will see a court banquet and listen to the 18th century music performed by the orchestra. They will try on hats from the empress's wardrobe, take a master class in making masks for a masquerade ball and master the basic techniques of using a musket.
The site presents the civilian life of medieval Russia through the life of noble citizens, the prince, his warriors and ordinary Slavic farmers and artisans. They plow, mow, make bread, graze cattle, spin, and carve wood. For the time being, they keep their swords at the bottom of their chests and solve conflicts peacefully, paying tributes.
The festival visitors will feel the atmosphere of the postwar life in the USSR. They will learn popular games of those years, dance to a gramophone in a public garden and take pictures in the unique atmosphere of an old apartment. A soviet store and several corner shops (an ice-cream cart and a bus with a shooting gallery inside) will become the center of the site.
The main school subjects are the ones that Russian girls and boys studied in single-sex schools in the late 19th – early 20th centuries. The sites look like classrooms. Young visitors can study penmanship, Geography and etiquette in a playful way. One can play games of that epoch and take pictures dressed in costumes. Visiting a dance class held on weekends, guests can learn interesting things about a ball etiquette of the time.
Children and their parents will see the main attributes, symbols and rituals of the pioneer organization of the 1920s. The site will show the birth of the pioneer movement, the appearance of a large number of street children, the formation of the first military patriotic organizations, the development of sport clubs for children and social clubs. Guests of the festival will witness the ceremony of joining the pioneer organization as it was in 1922. They will also have a chance to play pioneer drums and horns, and undergo anti-gas training.
The site vividly and in detail illustrates the early twentieth century Parisian life. To the sound of a street musician's accordion, visitors can try to make ribbon flowers in a fashionable atelier, make chocolate truffles in a Paris pastry shop and play petanque.
St. George's Tournament is the largest world tournament in the discipline of historical solid. All competitions and ceremonies in the tournament are held according to the tournament codes of the 15th century and with historical accuracy. Lances with metal heads, coronels, are used. 12 best knights from all over the world compete in jousting, melee, fighting with two-handed swords or axes, and using their weapons. There are medieval trade fairs with attractions and food around the tiltyard.
The interactive site is a military camp of the late 16th – 17th centuries, where an experienced instructor dressed in a costume of the Thirty Years’ War era will teach the swordsmanship (a rapier, buckler, Bolognese sword, two-handed sword). After a half-hour course, the guests receives a Renaissance swordsmanship diploma.
This site is the camp of the king of the crusaders Richard the Lionheart. It has everything one needs for a long military campaign: a field forge, crossbow and bow craftsmen, a shipbuilder, and even an engineer of siege weapons.
Guests of the festival will learn the history of shipbuilding in the era of sailing and steam fleets. They will see in detail the internal structures of sailing ships, battleships, leviathans and submarines. Periscopes with unique 3D images of military and civilian ships are along the embankment. That will help to learn more about the discoveries of the explorers, colonial commerce and navigation.
Guests can also visit different interactive sites where they can learn seamanship, how to handle the sails and participate in making a traditional boat.
Moscow of Ivan the Terrible. Moscow of the time of the first Russian Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich will come to life on Pokrovsky Boulevard. Citizens, artisans, merchants and tsar’s officials will present everyday life and traditional culture of the Russian medieval city. Festival guests can submit petitions to the clerk, mint coins and take part in different events and scenes from the life of ancient Moscow.
From the middle of the 1st century BC to the beginning of the 3d century AD, The Roman Empire played an important role in the economic and political life of the nations and states of the Crimean peninsula. The Roman garrison in Tavria in different periods of history included the V Macedonian and XI Claudian troops, Italian legions, and other soldiers of auxiliary units. The site "Rome. The garrisons of Crimea” will show the Muscovites and tourists a little-known part of the presence of the largest ancient civilization on the territory of modern Russia.

"Medieval University" holds open days again. Reenactors will recreate the atmosphere of the 15th century Oxford. Professors, students, pupils and followers of Leonardo da Vinci, Paracelsus and Erasmus of Rotterdam will meet the guests. New events will take place in the University every day. Its inhabitants and guests will try to solve new problems, gain new knowledge and experience in humanities, and exact and natural sciences. One can try to write the “Instruction for going to West India”. It is a book with the most advanced knowledge necessary for traveling and surviving in the lands recently discovered by Columbus.
The site will show in every detail the confrontation of the Southern and Northern armies of the USA in the middle of the 19th century. The visitors will learn how, where and in what conditions the soldiers lived in stationary camps and during winter campaigns. A recruiting station will be open and one can go all the way from enlistment to learning the basic training.
The visitors can see the reconstruction of an episode of the heroic defense of Sevastopol in the war with the allied forces of France, England, Turkey and Sardinia. They also can visit an artillery park of the allies, take part in improving the defenses of the “Russian Troy”, learn how to work with authentic engineering tools and try to learn seamanship.
This site is going to present the ways of building small crafts used in Scandinavia in the 9th – 11th centuries. A replica of an early medieval cog, a fishing boat from Arbu and a dugout boat are moored at the site. Festival guests can take master classes in making flat-bottomed ships and see a big staged battle and Holmgang, a trial by battle.
The site is a camp of the Old Russian merchant full of artisans, traders, soldiers and servants. Everyone will find something to enjoy. A merchant will tell about his life and numerous stories from his travels, a voivode (a military commander) will teach the medieval swordsmanship, military artisans will share the secrets of their skills, soldiers will demonstrate their skills and military bearing, maidens will tell you about their crafts, and common people will play and have fun.
Mini-exhibition of all epochs in one place is a simple and convenient way to understand the geography and content of the festival, and choose where to go and what to do. In total, the site presents 27 historical sites.
A retrospective of the Times and Epochs festivals over 9 years
The site is dedicated to the history of the Times and Epochs festival. Reenactors dressed in costumes of different eras will tell visitors about the main events of the last festivals (since 2011) and things citizens and tourists will see at the future festival in 2020. A competition of historical projects will take place on the site in the last two days.
The museum exhibition is about the first Russian circumnavigation, and the nations and the cultures the sailors led by I.F Kruzenstern encountered. There are original and reconstructed exhibits and costumes against the background of the scenery imitating the design of traditional dwellings in the island of Nuku Hiva, the Japanese islands and the so-called Russian America.
The site shows everyday life, military affairs and main battles of the Northern War (1700-1721). Visitors can play a historical quest. After completing all the tasks in the locations and showing a filled map, participants can strike a coin with an image of Peter the Great.
In the military camps of Russians and Turks, there are tents, artillery, and field hospitals. Visitors of the site will see how Russian soldiers and their opponents lived, talk with the Bulgarian militia and watch various scenes from the lives of soldiers. It will never hurt to try a basic combat training including drill course and bayonet assault course. Guests can visit a regimental tailor shop and use a telegraph.
The heyday of the Ottoman Empire. Guests will visit the famous bazaar, drink a cup of coffee made on sand in a chaikhana (a teahouse) and taste amazing sweets. Visiting the palace of an Ottoman pasha, guests will see the harem, the gem of his wealth. One can learn some military skills in the camp of severe janissaries.
Citizens and tourists will meet the Arab merchants of the 10th – 12th centuries, who walked from Egypt to Novgorod along the Great Silk Road. The basis of the site is the exposition, consisting of “Caliphate", "Byzantium", "Khazar Kaganat and Russia”. Thus, passing the Great Silk Road site, visitors will symbolically travel the trade route.
The site is dedicated to the experimental archaeology and crafts of the 9th – 12th centuries from Scandinavia to Asia Minor. Citizens and tourists can take classes in basket weaving and stone and wood carving. They can also listen to lectures on birch bark and how to work with it.
Festival guests can visit two camps of enemies that fought in the Civil War. They can take basic combat training and learn bayonet fighting in the Red Army camp. In the White Army camp, guests will see the elite of the Armed Forces of the South of Russia and the main differences between Kornilov’s and Alekseyev’s soldiers. The pride of the site is a working copy of a Fiat-Izorski armored car of 1917.
Representatives of the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente will gather at the camp. Serving and preparing uniforms for a new campaign leave no time for rest. During breaks, the soldiers will tell some war stories, show how they cooked on the frontline, teach to use wireless telegraphy and methods of bayonet fighting.
